My husband and I recently came back from the Committed for Life Retreat held every year to minister to couples with the mission to create strong Christian Marriages.
I truly came away blessed and inspired to put into practice what I learned. With the divorce rate of Christians matching the divorce rate of those not professing the Faith I really believe that there is a need for more education and support of marriages. We will be heading into our ten year anniversary this fall and I learned things I wish I knew my first year of marriage.
Overall I left with a better understanding of how sacred marriage is to God.
21 Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
22 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her26 to make her holy, cleansing[b] her by the washing with water through the word, 27 and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. 28
Marriage is a picture of God’s love for us! What a privilege to have the opportunity to experience the relationship between God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the Church. This scripture is rich with tips on having a better marriage. Although I definitely am not perfect I’ve come to realize that marriage is very precious and needs to be taken care of and maintained like a precious stone.
My husband and I are already looking forward to going back next year. If you would like more information you can go to the Committed for Life website.
